It will be 2560X1440 144hz G-Sync in games like GTA V, Titanfall 2, WOW, Heroes of the Storm. I know my CPU upgrade options are limited as far as upgrades are concerned, should I look for a 3770k?

Because you want high refresh rates, get a 7700K and a GTX 1080 Ti. Otherwise, you won't be able to get 144 FPS....

Hey everyone! I will be upgrading my GPU very soon from a 7970 ghz, which will be passed on to a friend. My CPU is a 3570k on an ASUS Sabertooth Z77 motherboard, I and have a slight overclock on it right now. If I upgrade to the 1080 ti would there be any potential bottlenecking? It will be 2560X1440 144hz G-Sync in games like GTA V, Titanfall 2, WOW, Heroes of the Storm. I know my CPU upgrade options are limited as far as upgrades are concerned, should I look for a 3770k?

Should I sell my friend my whole system and just build a whole new system with the 1080ti?

for high refresh rates you need a current gen i7

those Ivy Bridge CPUs are venerable, but outdated

The sad thing is that Ryzen has trouble competing with Ivy Bridge CPUs...
