Windows memory leak?

Gershy13

So i think i have a memory leak problem with my pc.

After i turn it on, give it a few hours, and it climbs idle memory usage to 13ish gb. thats just from ram, page file usage is about 4-5gb.

This means that it stutters when doing normal stuff like browsing or watching youtube videos.

I also have to restart if i want to do anything ram intensive (Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro...)

After i restart, it goes back to around 4-5gb idle usage. (and no page file)

Ive updated basically all of my drivers, and cant find anything to be the problem.

Any Ideas?

I really dont want to re install windows, as its not worth it, i would rather restart every 5-6 hours than have to reinstall everything.

Specs:

4670k

750 ti

gigabyte z87-hd3

16gb 1600mhz corsair ram

Samsung 840 evo 120gb (OS and programs)

WD Blue 1tb (media and overflow programs)

Thanks

Gershy13

sounds like a leak, try and isolate which program it is if you can. if not if you don't want to deal with a reinstall put up with it.

well boot up the pc, leave it running for a hour or so see if there a leak.

repeat with each program.

you could also google some programs and see if they have a history of memory leaks

It only happened after i updated to windows 10, and never happened on windows 8, nothing new was installed near the update. It has to be a background service problem, as the only programs i run when i turn it on is chrome.

That might sound odd but try to see if it's Win10 notifications first (google "Show me tips about Windows high memory usage" to be blown away) ";

Go into Settings > System, then locate "Notifications & Actions" and uncheck "Show me tips about Windows"

showmetips2.jpg

Then restart and see if it happens again.

If that doesn't work just let us know, there's others reasons for that with Windows 10, but the notification thing is often the main reason.
