Will an intel i5 work after dropping it?

Go to solution Solved by AlexCo,

if no physical damage is visually present it would probably be fine...

They're not super sensitive to G-shock... You'd likely see damage physically on the cpu from the fall that would indicate if it was damaged

I want to buy a used i5 3570. Because my G2030 is struggling and I don't have money for a whole new system. It's my first time that I am buying something used. So, will the CPU work if the previous owner had dropped it on floor. It's just came into my mind.

Is there any damage to the PCB or the contacts?

Like if they dropped it and nothing shows damage then it will probably be just fine but if you have a bent side or something then it's probably busted.

Like others have said, if it doesn't look broken/damaged it is probably OK.

If there is no visible physical damage to it, most likely it shouldn't be a problem.

Meh why have'nt it been tested by said previous owner after dropping it? Just make sure it works before buying it...

If seller just say the cpu has been dropped and he don't know if it work or not, read that it's dead and 100% won't work... would be dumb to drop it then put it for sale without testing it..and would be even dumber to buy it without knowing.

If the is no visual damage i doubt the will be any internal damage.

As long as the pins and pads make contact, it should work. Has the seller tested the CPU?
