Turning on DOCP after the latest 0514 bios flash successfully updated ram xmp module to 2400 and correct xmp timings. Pc rebooted properly without any problems after bios settings change in DOCP.

Is my 2400 mhz running slow than it should be? I'm new to this RAM stuff so bear with me. I have 8GB DDR4 Vengeance LPX 2400Mhz. Details are on my profile.

Is this a early adopter problem with the Ryzen 7/B350 chipset (Asus)? On my previous DDR3/FX rig my hyperx fury did the math itself and ran at optimum speed. i didn't have to tinker with voltages and stuff at all. I'm a newbie and could fry my RAM!

1064.5*2 = 2129, which is pretty much 2133mhz. That's what you are running at. I don't know if Ryzen has any sort of XMP feature; if it does, turn it on. If not, then just go to the BIOS and set the clock and timings manually to what they were supposed to be, according to your kit's specs.

You're running at default DDR4 specs, on the nose.

You need to select the DOCP Standard option or manually enter the speed and timings and voltage within BIOS.

Please also be aware that right noe, high memory clocks in my Asus X370 board are causing crashes or not booting at all.  I've benched default settings vs 3200 (on old bios) and gotten results almost the same. I can run stable at 2400 with correct timings but it doesn't like anything more.

Stock vs OC  (ram wise) gives me a cinebench difference of 1829 vs 1847

Okay, then I should probably leave it as it is. probably not a good idea then risking angering the infant chipset! I wanted to put in another 4GB into the rig a bit later, I have just enough for it. To run in dual channel and all. I don't know now.

My friend tinkered with the speed to run it at 2400 (no voltage change), the pc refused to boot and gave audio error beeps until it restarted itself and reset to previous speed.

Yeah! Another thing I noticed with Asus Ez update is that it reports no new updates found (although I found update of the program itself on asus site)...including the BIOS. So I downloaded the 0502 BIOS update and flashed it. Don't know if it fixed anything else (or broke it), but RAM issue remains the same.

My RAM is in the list http://www.corsair.com/en-us/landing/ryzen( CMK8GX4M1A2400C16R )
