I haven't seen tearing since I made the switch, tis amazing, you may never be able to game on a non-synced monitor again. Also make sure you have an AMD GPU to take advantage of it. Anyways, what monitor do you have and what were you going to replace it with?

1) Make sure you have an AMD GPU

2) Try playing with VSYNC off if it is on

What FPS are you getting and what game(s) is it tearing on? What refresh rate does your monitor have?

GSync user here, which operates pretty much the same as FreeSync. It makes a hell of a difference. Though bear in mind it only works when in the effective range (will be from x FPS to the refresh rate of your monitor). If you're consistently over your monitor's refresh rate, causing tearing, FreeSync won't do anything.

Right now I have a Dell P2417H, thinking of replacing it with the Dell SE2717Hx.

Should I be able to find the range in the monitor specs or is it universal across Free/G-sync?

Overwatch is the only game I've tried at 60 FPS. Had to tear down my 3 day-old rig to RMA the motherboard and never had a GPU so I couldn't give you more info.

Freesync will only work with AMD GPUs it will just function as a normal monitor unless you have an AMD GPU or APU with an amd i-gpu.

Like others have said, you need to have an AMD GPU to make use of FreeSync.

Also, with FreeSync it's important to set an upper frame-limit in the AMD driver program to make sure your FPS don't go above the FreeSync range, to prevent screen-tearing.

How much did you spend on the monitor you're thinking about returning? Maybe some people can suggest a good alternative for the money.
