Is this normal?

Hey community,

I have recently bought an rx480 strix rog and I have been checking temps and usage from time to time to oc it.

And I've seen something weird. The Gpu usage consists of spikes while gaming. Is that normal? I don't remember my old gpu doing that.

During rocket league. But also during doom and scrap mechanics which are both kinda gpu intensive.

My other specs are: i5-3450, 8gb ddr3 ram, hp oem mobo, 525gb crucial ssd

do you have vsync on? and what does cpu usage look like?

Yes, I do have vsync on. Cpu usage is about 30-70%.

I did, but i run doom at 150fps, rocket league at 250fpss and scrap mechanics at 100fps. So there is no gpu intensive game. But when I run heaven it goes to 100% and stays there. But furmark its the same thing, I always get those spikes.

Does it manifest in game in the form of stuttering? If it's not affecting you while playing a game, I wouldn't worry about it.

It does form time to time. Even in simple games like rocket league. Almost feels like micro stutters

Either you have a bad/insufficient power supply or it's a driver problem. Use DDU to unusual your drivers and reinstall the latest ones. If the issue didn't go away, I would look into changing your power supply.
