I want to upgrade my old i5-750, but I have a few questions. My budget is $180 in cash and an extra $140-ish dollars on Amazon.ca. My question is, what should I upgrade to? I'm staying with mITX, and I'm nervous about overclocking, but am willing to do it if it is good value. I'm in London, Ontario. Thanks for the help!

All of my estimates are based on CAD since you're Canadian.

$180 CAD is quite a grey area. I think G4560 is the answer - you can get it at $79 ( http://www.ncix.com/detail/intel-pentium-processor-g4560-2core-de-138312.htm?affiliateid=7474144 ).

$140 would go for mobo, and you can get this ( https://www.amazon.ca/ASRock-Motherboard-Mini-H110M-ITX-AC/dp/B01AVPBOFI/ ) at $110.

You might be able to get a modern i3, new mITX and some DDR4 for around that but it sounds like you need a whole new system, if this is for modern gaming I would just get a RX 480 or something now and upgrade the rest later.

The RX 470 I currently have does everything I need it to, but I play games like BeamNG.drive, which is a pretty CPU intensive game. When I start spawning and crashing multiple cars, it starts to lag.

Is the Pentium really worth the upgrade? Are there any benchmarks? Like I said before, I play BeamNG,drive and Team Fortress 2 a lot if that helps.

@PenPoint @GDRRiley @LeapFrogMasterRace If it's a good deal, I found an i5-2500k on CeX for $70. I could buy it online and get it shipped to Canada (would that work?)

NOPE. G4560 is a better idea in every single perspective: and in case of the performance, those two will be similar because they have a quite big gap in terms of generation.

I just surfed Canadian pcpartpicker again and i3-7100 will best fit your budget: $150. 7100 will easily beat 2500K.

Are you sure that the i3 will beat out the i5? I found some benchmarks which don't support that claim, especially with the price gap between the 2.

Considering 7100 is at least slightly better than 6100 by its higher clock speed(approx 5.5%), it seems like those two are tie.
