VR Honeymoon stage?

So I had the chance to try VR for the first time a couple of days ago and I've got to say I was blown away and I think I've caught the VR bug. I've been saving up the money to buy a laptop to be more productive and have finally got enough but now I'm being tempted to get either the vive or occulus instaed. My question is how long does it take before it loses its charm if indeed it ever does?

 

Also my current rigs GPU is a 970 and it says it's VR ready is it really or would I need to upgrade?
