That kind of stuff seems pretty pointless. People used to believe in the occult during the dark ages when there was no science or modern technology, I would expect that people have given up on such things. People didn't understand the natural phenomenon around them and the various oddities of the human psyche, so they conjured up things like magic and witches to give them a sense of security. Then again, people still blindly believe religious superstitions nowadays.....

TL;DR, Occult is nothing but snake oil and hogwash.

But it can still be intersting. Just becuase magic(k) and the occult are hogwash, it's still an intersting subject from anthropological point of view.

It can even be intersting to view occultism as a part of the history of idea.

Personally, I've always enjoyed stories of the occult. I treat them pretty much like ghost stories, even if you know it's bullshit there's always the voice in the back of your head going "But what if?".

Anything can be interesting from an anthropological point of view including all ancient religions so that hardly makes me any more interested in the subject matter.

I like occult themes in books and i do find it entertaining. Don't believe in most of the stuff though.

A witch used to live next to me though. And i'm not joking. She was a licensed witch. Which was hilarious.

She used to do seances and all that jazz. And i could watch people turn up for their appointments.

That house is nicer than the one i live in. So business must've been good.

Didn't speak to her more than on a few occasions. And never asked her about it either.

But on topic. I do like watching stuff that has to do with folklore and the occult. Even the occasional monster hunt show.

(Even though they never find anything. Big surprise there xD)

If you get into the alternative healing with crystals, (who knows it might not be that crazy afterall) I've read people making upwards of 150K a year in more densely populated areas. The thing with that though is that not everyone is capable of doing in a professional way so the supply is very low.

How does one practice pure non-sense in a professional way?

It's a phenomenon to me that there are people who still believe in this kind of stuff... This is all smoke & mirrors and nowadays it's basically all debunked.

I recently read a very extensive article about Nazis and their obsession with the occult and esoteric stuff, they commited great resources to research and expedition, but nothing was ever confirmed and it was a huge waste of money and work.

Though it's even a bigger phenomenon to me that there's still so many people in XXI century who go to church every week and pray to their imaginary friend, but that's another story...
