Is it possible for me to temporarily turn off my GTX1070 (when I am not gaming for a while), and use the integrated GPU of my i5 7600K? Main reason why I want to do this i for ultra quiet sound.

Does this affect performance when I switch back? Is it advised not to do?

Thanks in advance

Nope, unless your BIOS supports GPU switching which from what i have seen, none of desktop motherboard does. This is different for laptop though.

I think. Never done it.

That's only for PhysX, not the display itself.

Ahh. So that's where I got it from. Thanks

99% chance your GPU has a 0RPM mode unless it's a founder's edition card.

Even than a custom fan profile but that not advised.

Why not advised?

Overheating? unlike a open cooler air is restricted due blower style and usually running at lowest RPM is usually better.

but because it's a fan curve, it can turn up the fan speed if it overheats... right?

AFAIK just web browsing is something a GPU can do without generating almost any heat at all. (enough for a founders edition card to dissipate passively)

Doesn't the fans automatically turn off when you are not using it?

No, I can still hear it... Whats the lowest I can set my fan to at idle 30deg? On msi afterburner fan curver there is a dotted line, i assume u should not go under it....

A custom fan profile is not advised? I was advised by this forum to steepen my fan curve for my 1070 FE as I was reaching temps of 81deg, which i changed to max 62deg. Whats the min fan setting I can change it to during 30deg idle?

ramping up fan curve is always fine.

he is saying that ramping it down, especially on a FE card, isn't ideal.

you might want to consider a fan curve that is silent (0RPM) below 50C, and then steepens very quickly, and reaches max speed at 75C

TBH Temps under 84c don't really matter that much, but obviously you should build in your own buffer.

No, i was implying custom fan curve when not set up probably on reference card can cause crashes. A friend of my when i told him to set custom curve made his pc crash when he games.
