back audio port not working

the back audio port (the io on the motherboard) is no longer working it will play sound though HDMI and the front case auto port do i need to RMA the motherboard asap or is there something else i can do it was working then i took out the old very bad power supply and put in a EVGA 750 qg gold power supply and the auto no longer works help please

See if your onboard audio has any sort of application that manages settings for it. It's quite possible that it's currently stuck on outputting to front panel which could lead to audio not being outputted from the rear I/O.

 

Modern audio solutions should be smart enough to automatically switch when something is plugged in or removed from the front panel; but sometimes that just doesn't work properly.

If you find that it's actually not working - you can get a cheap USB sound adapter that will do the job well enough.  I just picked one up to add front audio to my fiancee's PC and it works just fine.

i tried looking there seems to be nothing disabled on the os side or the bios side its a very new motherboard only about 2 months sense i got it if even that i could get a sound card but would rather not have a messed up motherboard any other ideas?

And you've checked in the Realtek HD Audio Manager?

i know it sounds stupid, but i always go straight to playback devices in windows when my audio is playing up, its usually just the wrong audio device set as default. worth a check

Thought of that too. But I ruled that out because sound is being outputted fine through the front panel which in most cases is handled by the same playback device as the rear I/O. That is... if he doesn't have the front panel plugged into an add-in sound card and the using the onboard audio for rear I/O or vice versa.

everything is up to date all drivers are good
