I wonder if the "240p.. we meet again" comments will be replaced with "1080p.. we meet again" comments.

People even complain if it's 720p...

Rather have less compression on 1080p than 1440p to be honest, and I have a 1440 and 1600p display

Ya for instance so many people who use youtube to compare gameplay etc don't seem to understand that whatever the resolution it's still a highly compressed video stream.

A game will never look as good as it looks on you monitor when it's being rendered bit for bit directly from your GPU.

I just saw my first youtube video with the feature to get 1440p video, Is this new and if it is older how long has it been out?

If new what are your thoughts?

Here Is the video I saw it on:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnOTNk6g8LE

This one:

"Original" in the drop-down resolution field is 4K.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I use the 1440p streaming option because my internet can do it easy, and it makes it look much better on my 1080p screen.

1440p was there for a looonng time... so was "original" (mostly 4K)

Though, they're gonna have to improve on their sh*tty encoding first.. Like, look at 240p videos from 2006 & 2007 YT. They look amazing. That's because back then it was "optimized" 240p. Now it's just you pour in the videos into the one end of the rendering machine and it shits on the other side.

For people with lower resolution monitors who think it doesn't benefit, should look again.  Because of compression, the 1080p videos on youtube are not really full quality 1080p.  Hell, even many blu-ray movies are not!

I you can pull down the over 1080p+ (1440, 4K, or whatever higher resolution available) video and watch again, you will see video much sharper (given the original video is encoded right and your computer can handle without jutter.. there are video players that can check).

For example this video: [4096x2304]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYQ8w7kxdDk

Can't remember when but it's been there for a while. Don't use it as my monitor is only 1080p.

This has been out for ages, someone has already uploaded 4k Crysis 3 video, can't remember who though... Odd. It's a good thing, you can still watch it at a higher resolution than your monitor and it actually does look better because of youtube compression... Of course I live in Australia, no chance of being able to watch that without buffering

I am good at computer
