Do both lights on the ethernet port light up/what color are they?

Is the ethernet port detected in network manager?

Just because the light is Orange doesnt mean anything, Intel uses Orange lights for speed indicator for example.
In some Nics it means 100Mb/s, on other means 1Gb/s.

yep tried it :'(

Does another cable work?
When you connect it, what your Adapter status say? Not Connected or Unindentified or something else? (assuming you are using windows)
In case none of the above work, grab a flash light and check on your RJ45 port if your have any of the contacts bent, they all should be straight paralell to each other, there is 8 of them. You can see pictures online.

Hope it helps.

Check whether you have DHCP turned on in your network settings for the ethernet port, you may not be getting a connection because of different sub-net settings... just a thought is all.
