Laptop fan sound is too loud on idle

Open task manager and check what program is utilising the CPU.

While idling the CPU usage should be a few percent.

I found the problem: A program called Airdroid took up 18% of the cpu usage. After closing that program, the cpu usage went down to 3%.

My laptop fan sound is too loud on idle. I tried measuring the decibel of the fan noise, and average was 55db and max was 65db. Is there a problem with my laptop? The laptop was in idle state.

Have you ever clean the exhaust fan or replacing the thermal paste of the cpu? It may also a software related problem.

I have cleaned the exhaust fan, but I did not replace the thermal paste, since the laptop is already quite damaged, so it's not worth it. Also, why would there be a software problem related to cooling?

Some software like antivirus may run in background and stresses the cpu. Computer virus also can heat up the cpu.

Have you check the cpu usage while idle?

CPU usage is 27% on idle.

I scanned my computer with Avast antivirus, and the result was no virus on my computer.

Glad that you found the culprit. Is the fan still loud?
