clock speed vs cores for medium minecraft server

Me and a friend want to build a cheap (£450ish) dedicated minecraft server for up to 30ish people (currently 10-15) with room for lots of mods. We'd prefer new, and an ssd for loading times. since minecraft only uses 2 cores and cares most about single core performance i immediatley thought about oc'ing the g3258 to over 4.5ghz, will that be enough? i was thinking 16gb ddr3, and upgrade to 32 if needed. for the ssd, will 256gb be enough for os, minecraft? also- os, will windows or linux be better (linux is free so id prefer but idk)?

if not i could buy a used 4770 and mobo for the same price as a g3258, mobo and cooler, would that be better. also what cooler, a h100 or the like or a hyper 212 evo?

i said wed prefer new, and high clockspeeds benefit minecraft alot from what i know because its in java

a server with multiple people and lots of mods will use more than 2 cores.

so.... any options with high clock speeds, low tdp, 4+ cores, good ipc and easy to find mobos? also what about my other questions

a 212 or any cheap cooler will do, look at 2012 xeon.

what about an i3 7350k, its generally not worth it but minecraft really needs high clocks

Any kind of server will benefit from CORES not CLOCK

ok, but the game does, so a 7700k would be perfect right. how many cores is enough, and assuming haswell ipc i think 3.5ghz is good

i was saying if buying another cpu, if it was haswell id want that clock speed (i cant afford the 7700k but a 4770 maybe or a i5)

Get a locked 4770 or a 4770K, more than enough. FX is pretty trash for gaming but could be OK for a server

ive done more research and everyone says that the best cpu is the FASTEST (clock speed and ipc) cpu i can buy (so the g3258 @4.5+ghz seems good) @Shiv78 @nerdslayer1
