yeah we are in the same plce...i'm also REALLY looking forward to VR and i,ve tried the vive and was awestruck at how NICE it is but at the same time how LOW RES it is...i want ULTRA HD VR in my life RIGHT NOW :( !!!

I had a Vive but I had problems with my Z87 motherboard and USB 3 so I sent it back. I will say though drawing in Tilt Brush was one of the most relaxing things I have ever done.

I had the Z87-G45 with a 4670K. Z87 was the first to support USB 3.0 and so was the 4670K or something. Basically the Vive needed more bandwidth and the way it was implemented it wasn't running off USB 3.0 speeds causing problems with tracking in a certain way. According to intels specs USB 3.0 starts to broadcast off the wire when saturating the link speed so this could have been another problem. I am not 100% sure but that is the best answer HTC, reddit, LTT, Intel, Steam, and other various forums could give me. Apparently Jay from JayzTwoCents had a similar issue with Haswell and said it was the CPU and motherboard. Z97 doesn't have the problem though.

I had the Z87-G45 with a 4670K. Z87 was the first to support USB 3.0 and so was the 4670K or something. Basically the Vive needed more bandwidth and the way it was implemented it wasn't running off USB 3.0 speeds causing problems with tracking in a certain way. According to intels specs USB 3.0 starts to broadcast off the wire when saturating the link speed so this could have been another problem. I am not 100% sure but that is the best answer HTC, reddit, LTT, Intel, Steam, and other various forums could give me. Apparently Jay from JayzTwoCents had a similar issue with Haswell and said it was the CPU and motherboard. Z97 doesn't have the problem though.

I never understand the people that buy the 1080s or the 1080Ti's and then ask if they will last 3 years, if you have the money to buy a 1080Ti, wouldn't you have the money to buy a 1180 etc every year?

Nope myself i have a family i've been saving up for an new gpu upgrade for the last 2 years. I have bills to pay etc. The upgrade i want to get i want to make sure it last 2 years at least. NOT everyone is made of money and money does not grow on trees.

Why not just buy a GTX 1070 and a GTX 1170.

No Attitude here your reading me wrong lol. Im was making a valid point thats all. Good advice when buying a gpu, buy the fastest GPU you can afford. At the moment that going to be the gtx 1080ti hopefully after real benchmarks. I dont want to cripple myself 2 years down the line with a 1070 if i want to upgrade my monitor. 

 

I made the same mistake years ago when i brought 2 670 In SLI. The 2 gig Vram grippled me in Modded Skyrim im not making that same mistake again. 

Plenty of vram and preformance i am looking for now.
