I am going to build a new rig not only for gaming, I want to game and stream at Twitch / Youtube at the same time. I am gaming on a 144Hz 1080p BenQ monitor and the stream is hopefully going to be 720p 60fps. I understand that for gaming itself I'm more than good to go with the Kabylake i5 or even Skylake, but I'm not so sure if it could handle streaming 720p 60fps at the same time.

What is the recommended optimal CPU for this need? 7700K? 6800K? Ryzen 7?

Also, how much RAM do I need? Am I good to go with 16GB of RAM?

I don't really have a budget limit, but I don't want to waste money for something that's totally overkill.

For the GPU I am gonna wait for Vega, but I'm gonna look for something like the GTX 1070 equivalent later. There is a possibility that if Vega turns out to be somewhat disappointing, I'll just go with the 1070, but I'll worry about it later.

Wait for Ryzen.............Oh.

16GB will be what you want to start with. Maybe consider going with 2x8GB sticks so you can increase capacity if you start running out. 8GB isn't enough for what you're wanting to do. It's only just enough for gaming and some light multi-tasking now days.

7700K is a sweet CPU for gaming and recording, if you want the multi core sweetspot the new Ryzen 1700-1800x seems good.

Check out some comparisons between them. I would personally land on the Ryzen 1700 for the cores.

The 1070 would do you great for what you want, but waiting for Vega might not be a bad idea.

16 GB RAM is enough!

Ryzen 7 1700. If you want better gaming experience then x99's i7. 16gb RAM best for your requirements.

if you have the budget for two systems, get a dual pc setup.

if not -- ryzen.

if you can afford a dual pc setup, i'd really recommend going that way, becuase of the convenience factor. having the streaming stuff completely seperated from the gaming stuff ensures that neither can impact the performance of the other, and allows you to have a physical input to both systems, so you dont need to tab out the game to set up a scene, for example.

but you *do* carry the cost of two monitors (get 1080p 60Hz for your gaming rig, it'll make setup a whole bunch easier), two keyboards, mice, you need room on your desk, on top of the cost of having two powerful systems.

if you can give me a more precise location than "earth" (or if it's sensitive, just give me your preferred pcpartpicker location), and a budget to aim for, i'll see what i can do for you in terms of suggestions.

Thanks for the recommendation, I appreciate it. As for the dual pc setup, I have thought of it before, but it's not gonna be possible until I can move to a larger apartment.

I'm gonna get a secondary monitor soon, it's most likely to be the Samsung 24" curved monitor, I believe the model number is C24F390. I have prepared a custom made monitor arm for it. I have spare mouse, keyboard, and speaker, but I don't know where else to put them on my desk. My room is also not big enough to fit another desk, which is why I need to find a larger apartment.

Btw I live in Indonesia, pc parts availability and options here are kind of similar with Australia. Chances are if you use something like the Australian version of pcpartpicker, I can find the parts here. The price is also quite similar when converted from AUD to IDR.

there's a livstreamer that used to do the thing out of his dorm, and what he did was have both mice on his mousepad, and for the second keyboard he just got a little table barely bigger than the keyboard and the display stand. going dual pc is *indeed* rather space hungry, and not only because of the top of the desk space, underneath it becomes big quickly as well :P
