What is the best way to remove old thermal paste? one of my friends said that i should use chemically pure petrol, should i?

Use isopropyl alcohol.

Personally I use isopropyl alcohol, and a coffee filter (no lint left behind)

Rubbing alcohol if you live a decent distance from a computer warehouse.

The other thing you can use are alcohol swabs from the local hospital... Tell the nurse she's got gorgeous eyes.

It's in most stores in the medical area. Try to get the purest bottle of it - the highest you'll see available is 91% probably. 99% or higher concentrations aren't for medical use, and so likely won't be available in that area.

I personally use the Arcticlean Kit, Always makes cleaning off old thermal paste easy as pie!

If you cant find it at the Pharmacy eBay and Amazon Carry it. 99% pure

Just a random cloth man, rub it till it's all clean then blow away any lint.

personally I do it while it's in the socket, that way there's no chance of anything scratching, or getting onto a contact.
