Hey guys, Im looking for a nice pair of headphones for $100-$150 USD. Im going to be using them for playing games (Mostly BF4) and listening/producing various styles of EDM music. I was also considering getting a Fiio E10 if needed. Im currently using Astro A40's from when I played on a console.

I'd suggest Beyerdynamic DT 990's (or 770's if you want isolation). Grab the FiiO if you get a version greater than 80 ohms.

I was going to suggest the same but looks like they're a bit over the $150 budget. If you can get em in that price point or he doesnt mind chipping in a bit more then I'd consider them for sure.

It's only $151.81, yeah, soooo over budget.

Why not the M50's?

They are over priced. Unless you can get them for at or below $100, they are not worth it. For $150 you can get dt 990's or ad700x which is much much better.

Im kinda stuck between DT 770 PRO 250ohms and the DT 990 Pro 250ohms. Im also interested in Custom One Pros or M50's because of their looks, but I don't know much about their sound differences. Can someone explain the differences between them?

Don't buy a headphone based on looks.

I would go with the 990's, but you'll need an amp to drive them.

Someone else can describe the sound, I'm heading on a plane in a few minutes.

Yeah, but its so tempting...

I'll probably get a Fiio E10

Have a safe flight :)

So a ATH-M50's and a Fiio E10 look like a great deal atm. Should I get them or are there better deals?

For "positional audio" you'd want an open pair of headphones, so the M50's might not be the best. The Pioneer SE-A1000 is only $54.

If you're not worried about "hurr durr moar footsteps" then spring for the M50.

Yeah, I'm not really worried about footsteps because I don't play competitively. These are going to be mostly for music production but I'll probably pick up something like the AD700x around christmas time.
