Phoronix has done a benchmark on the 1700. 9 seconds slower in linux kernel compilation than the 1800X. 11 seconds faster than the similarly priced 7700K. Lower TDP than the 7700K, lower clock speed too. This is reconfirming my opinion that the 1700 is going to be a bargain for software development and a good CPU for a silent build. Now I just need someone to prove that the 1700 really is 65W TDP. Phoronix says somewhere that theres no temp sensors for their motherboard in linux yet.
