Gottboost

Hi. Im building a pc for my brother who wants do video editing and just your general daily use needs. Im talking maybe a video every 2 weeks to a month. He doesnt game and is pretty useless when it comes to technology.

His budget is $2500 Aud.

He wants a 29inch ultrawide monitor since he likes mine.

I was considering a i7 7700 build but i dont know much about video editing. Ill have to learn to teach him..

RAM is important for video editing the more the better,

SSD in 500GB should be find for moving video being worked.

GPU wise i think a 1080 is kinda overkill unless you need the textures for 3D rendering so even a 1070 is good enough.

Since you have monitor include as the budget i think you should look at Premade $2000 and start adjusting for what you need it. What applications are you going to use? Might want to budget that as well.

Hey I tried my hand a build, I think I managed to piece together a value build suited for your brother. I added  probably the best mouse money can buy coupled with a backlit cherry mx brown switch, backlit keyboard. Widescreenmonitor is included.

Thanks for your replys.. i was thinking trying out the new ryzen but am a bit unsure due to it being so new and have always been a intel person.

My brother is a apple person.since its the only thing his used and is useless with technology. But he wants a pc due to when i showed him the base imac at around  $2500 it was crap in my opinion

There's a kit of ddr4 16gb 3000 for a few bucks more, get that instead. Change the NEX to a different psu, it performs badly. Also, you don't need an x370, a cheaper b350 board is good enough.

So the consensus is to stick with the Ryzen 7 1700 for this build?

your brother's doing video editing, which the ryzen 7 will greatly excel at over the 7700

There really isn't a need for a big cpu cooler, especially if the user is not going to push overclocking. Initial reports suggest that the stock cooler will be quite sufficient and reasonably quiet.

A B350 motherboard is quite sufficient for this build. You might consider going with mATX to save a little space.

Consider more memory.

I would suggest a higher resolution monitor. The extra display space facilitates editing.

Unless one is gaming there is no need for a wired keyboard and mouse. Wireless provides more flexibility in placement.
