you can throw as many cores as you can get at vray,or if he's using the vray rt engine (maybe ask him) get some gpu's for that

edit: to answer the question,yes vray will benefit highly from more cores

yes you have and just to make your life easier lots of features exist like lighting but as i found it you need to make it very bright to show up. btw be sure to use vray rt production renderer and have cuda enabled if you have nvidea
