So my grandmother is on the verge of getting a new laptop and she is confronting me for answers as to which one. I know that either way she will want a new laptop within two years. So for her and my ease of access, I think it will be good for her to get one with a MXM graphics card slot, she also has a budget of around $175, so what is a good (preferably 14 inch) laptop with a MXM slot that also has easily upgradable ram and not too hard to upgrade CPU?

MXM slot laptops are usually found on the stupid high-end desktop replacements like the stuff from Clevo (who supplies Sager and others) or the Alienware 17.

However, there's really no point. MXM cards are stupid expensive and more limited because the laptop may not have be able to power or cool a more powerful video card.

you're never going to find an MXM laptop for 175 dollars that's not missing a GPU, CPU, RAM, or HDD. All of which add cost.

Please save a bit more money, for 175 dollars you're only going to end up with a bad investment.

it's got a core 2 duo

a modern celeron is equivalent, and two cores are a severe bottleneck for "1080p HDR 60fps footage". Not to mention the nvidia FX GPU.

Take a look at some higher end chromebooks, like the Toshiba Chromebook 2, as well as some cheaper Windows laptops, like the Lenovo 100s

but why not just pay more for a laptop that's powerful enough?

I don't understand your reasoning here

The MXM chips/cards can be so expensive it's not worth it. Have a 10 year old Compaq NX9420, and changing stuff is not really worth it. Also why is she changing laptop every 2 years, and why do you need an MXM slot if she will change it? And that budget though.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

The problem here is the graphics card is only 1/3 of the issue. If you're streaming HDR content, you're likely going to need a Kaby Lake or Ryzen process and Windows 10. And even then, you'll need an HDR display, otherwise the video will either look completely washed out or duller than a skipping stone.
