Looking for game options

[Princess Luna]

I need good game options for a 12 years old and his mother wants to keep it age safe, the games can't be too demanding though as the system is a tad under power: Core2Duo 7500, 4gb of RAM and a GTX560ti.

 

Games I have already thought about:

 

Portal 2
stardew valley

Minecraft

Terraria

Dirt Three

Age of Empires Three

Limbo

Mirror's Edge 1

Need For speed Most wanted/Underground 2 maybe The Run too

The sims

RollerCoaster Tycoon

Amnesia (Now I did want to add a scary one and this one is not exactly violent so I think it is a good call]

Assassins Creed 2? how mature would you consider it? I do want to add cool "adventure" titles

Lego star wars.

 

Am open to other ideas we got a whole 1tb hard drive to fill here [:

castle crashers and battleblock theatre are really fun and not really violent I THINK? i mean in age of empires you still kill and destroy shit too so i don't really know what not violent would mean.

But age of empires is a classic strategy game, I think the issue is more in blood some first person shooters...

Life is Strange for sure. Not demanding at all. But might not be suitable for a 12 yo

Rocket League does have a career mode against the AI. The game's competitive mode is the whole point for adult gamers, of course, but the AI might actually be a great fit for a 12 year old.

 

Do they have access to a gamepad for this system, like an Xbox controller or something? That may affect some recommendations, such as Rocket League.

Oh I finished episode three last night, got my mind fucked up after I saw Chole back in the present I am more than excited to start the fourth tonight after college, Totally gonna make him play it eventually but I think it is still a bit too mature for him sadly.

 

I also thought of Civilization now, spider-man games, blur, prince of persia forgotten sands and frozen synapse

That is interesting, I haven't played it myself so I didn't know it supported offline mode too, I will consider it and talk to his mother about it, and as you may think the budget for the system was as tight as tight can be but we could still get a cheap generic Usb gamepad and use the x360ce.
