Don't quote me, but I do not believe you can use old OEM keys and have them work. One addition piece of information that you may wish to know is that legally you cannot do that, Windows licence agreements prohibit it from transferring to a different computer. One way you may be able to get around this is installing windows 7/8 on the new computer and then upgrading it, although I am unsure if Windows is still allowing free upgrades to Windows 10. I would highly recommend just buying a copy of Windows 10 as that would be the best route to go with.

Probably not, they are OEM keys and OEM keys are tied to the motherboard.

- Update -

Talked to Microsoft and gave them the OEM product key from the side of my old PC and they confirmed that the windows 7 license it had was valid for windows 10 install, popped my win 10 disc in new PC entered win 7 code at install, registered successfully.

Nice to know this works for future builds i must have 10+ windows 7/8 keys from old junk PC's

Thanks for the help forum!
