I am stuck

Go to solution Solved by zainbrain,

Just an update here. I ordered a new pump top and a res bottom so i can separate the two, put the pump mostly under the PSU shroud, and then squeeze the res between the front rad and the side of the GPUs. I'll have to get a little creative with some of the tubing, but I'm pretty confident this will work out. When everything is done, I will place plenty of pictures in the appropriate Forum.  Thank you for being here and talking through this with me.

I have got all my pieces gathered and most of my parts installed, but have gotten stuck. I am trying to figure out where to put my pump and reservoir, the spot i was originally planing on is too small at two different points by about 1/8th of an inch. I would love to hear everyones thoughts and ideas. I was planning on a vertical mount behind the fans in front of the PS shroud and GPUs, but the pump part in itself is too big to let the reservore sit flush against the fans and the gap for the res between the GPUs and the fans is literally exactly the same size as the outer diameter of the reservoir. The only place I can really think to put it now, other than outside mounting, is horizontally on top of the ram... Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions and ideas.

Just attach it to the front plate there where it supports the drives it would leave you plenty of room, if not you can get a 120mm pump found to house it on the front fans/rads.

Not horizon but vertical behind the plate, it will be out of the way doing tubing runs.

If i pressed it up against the fans frame and mounted it vertically then that would leave about 2/3 of the pump/res peaking out into the window, also showing the back of the actual mount. I dont know how i could do that and keep it pretty.

Would a fan mount for the pump/res  work? I know ekwb makes them.

I will mess with it some more when I get off work in a couple hours and see what i can come up with for that though. Thank you.

I was talking about mounting it like this or directly to the front fans/rad with a bracket:

Im not exactly worried about what to mount it with, mostly just where to mount it to fit and look good. The horizontal mounting position i demonstrated in the pic seems like something I COULD do, but I think it kind-of detracts from the overall aesthetics of the pc. Im just kinda looking for new ideas and inspiration for that.

Yeah, I follow what you're saying and will tinker to see if i can get something similar to that, but I am fairly certain that my rad is much thicker than the one in that picture. Basically my GPUs are flush with that HHD cage mounting bar and the pump doesn't fit between the GPU and the rad.

Or under the psu shroud it seems to extend quite far I am sure it could fit horizontally

In that case you can mount it higher up on the same area to clear the GPU's or have it near the rear like this, you may need to remove the rear fan.

The PSU takes up most of the shroud. I may be able to fit a pump down there if i get one separate from the res, but there is not even close to enough room for the combo unit down there. I am hoping to avoid buying a new res and pump that come separately, but ultimately, if thats the only way to get it all to fit and look good, I will resort to that.

I suppose first thing i will do is mount the fans on my top rad and see if the space is tall enough there. I hadn't actually thought about mounting it on the insise back area so I will definitely try that out when i get home.

the unit is too tall to fit over the GPU :/

It looks like your going to have limited options then unless you have a very thick rad your only option may be to hide it behind that plate.

Yeah, it seems so. I'm currently installing various other components while i contemplate what i want to do. It looks like my options are back mounting it on the outside, horizontal mounting over the ram, getting a thinner rad, or maybe getting a new pump and new res that are separate.
