This is my father in law's computer... Dell Dimension 5100 Pentium 4 3.4GHz...

I'd like to surprise him by fixing it up for him and making it like new.... after looking it up for all if 5 minutes I realized that I am going to want/need to gut the case and replace everything...

I'd like to keep the case... just for the surprise factor... he will think it's the same old pc.... n this is where I'm having issues... I'm still a "Noob" and I'm unsure of what I can put in this case...

all he does is watch YouTube and plays Flash games.... so I'm not too worried about having an amazing build for him... Lolz

What's the specs? I'd think an ssd and maybe abit more ram should get the job done.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Like others have said, throw an SSD in there and some extra ram, it'll probably speed it up a bit and have him wondering how the hell it happened.

Or if you have a decent budget available, a whole new pc for him, that way you can surprise him when he walks in the room to go use it by saying some crap like you put it into a nicer looking case, and then again when he starts using it and see's how much faster it is xD

dell is notorious for using non-standard equipment and board layouts. I wouldn't expect anything to work, or fit. you're better off building new.

[FS][US] Corsair H115i 280mm AIO-AMD $60+shipping
