So after a few days of looking at laptops and thinking about which Laptop I should/shouldn't purchase. So I have come down to a few choices that seem "Ok" to me. I primarily want to use this laptop to do light editing while on the go/don't have to sit at the same desk for countless hours.

Firstly the Sony Vaio Pro 13

I7 4500u (1.8GHz) 256gb SSD, 8 GB 1600 ram, 2gb 750m, W8 Pro 13" Screen 1920x1080

Great Res, with a great price tag to boot, but as far as software goes.. is it enough? also the screen sounds a little small :S

Second that with the Dell (yes a dell) XPS

I7 4702hq, 16gb 1600 ram, 512 SSD, 750m 2gb, 15" 3200x1800 QHD monitor,

I really wish this was not a Dell.. pretty much hits as many nails on the head that I feel that i need.. (high ram, I7, SSD, High res etc) But it had to be made by dell! >.<

Help is greatly appreciated!

Well, the Dell is a lot more powerful.  The VAIO has an "i7" but it's basically the high end CPU of the ultra-low voltage category from Intel.  The king of the midgets, so to speak.  The Dell is a higher clocked quad-core and will be much more powerful for editing.

Have you looked at any Lenovo laptops?

what is the budget? and are these the only ones you found the screen is certainly nice but working on a laptop is a pain when editing things

No budget really, not to far north of £2,000 is fine. Im fairly used to working on a laptop, and I tend to never be in the same place for too long so the mobility of a laptop is quite essential right now.

The vaio pro is "only" 1080p

yeah, mixed it up with an other sony i looked at :P

Any Lenovo laptop would do fine, they're made amazingly.

The T440p, although it's not what I'd call a slim laptop.  If portability is more important that power then the T440S would be better.  I'd advise ordering the SSD separately if you want to get one, you'll save several hundred dollars, you'll probably get a better quality SSD anyway, and you'll get to keep the factory hard drive for free too.  They're pretty much made to be swapped out, it takes 5 minutes and a Philips head.
