Old hdd into new system

Hi everyone. I have a huge problem. A few days ago my laptop died (motherboard issues). My hard drive is still working. I've just ordered a new desktop pc with ssd and I really don't want to rebuy windows. So what can I do? Can I just simply connect my old hdd to my new setup and then copy the system to the new ssd? Do you have any idea?

if your ssd is from samsung you can download a tool which lets you migrate the data from a previous drive also if you do not have a samsung ssd buy this https://www.paragon-software.com/technologies/components/migrate-OS-to-SSD/ (it costs 19 bucks(usd)) or use this free tool wiht its guide http://www.todo-backup.com/backup-resource/data-transfer/migrate-windows-10-to-ssd.htm

Thanks, but can I connect the old hdd to my new system without any crash? I don't want to ruin it too early.
