Hello there once again I find myself encountering almost the same problem I had a long time ago.

I use my R9 290X (4GB) on my daily use computer and since I've had it for almost 3 Years now I noticed from the start the performance wasn't so great, but I'm sure if it was for some other reason

it would've gone away when I upgraded my PC to Kaby Lake, but still the issue is there.

now one thing that boggles my mind is that I have the GTX 1050 (2GB) Mini from Zotac and then when playing the same games I tried for cards I think 1050 runs better, Titles such as Battlefield 1, Mafia 3, Assains creed Unity, and so on.

When I tried to do the benchmark on Valley the R9 290X got a score of 1614, and the GTX 1050 got one of 1315.

Shouldn't the R9 290X outperform 1050?

maybe the gtx1050 has newer drivers for modern games?
most important is it requires much less power than the r9 290x

Uhh no

In some games the 1050 might beat the R9 290x but it mostly should not.
Latest drivers are downloaded? Have you tried using DDU to uninstall your drivers?

WHICH R9-290X do you have (make and model)?

It is a reference cooler version by any chance?

Have you monitored the temperature of the R9-290X when gaming / stress testing?

The GTX 1050 may be newer, but the R9-290X is faster in raw performance.

Check the temperature and the GPU Core frequency.

It very well could be thermal throttling.

The reference cooler R9-290(X) were known to operate a 94*C ~ 95*C, which can cause it to throttle.

Check the fan speed also.

The default fan profile was not very good a keep in the CPU cooler either.

If you haven't already, try setting up a custom fan curve (or experiment with different fan speeds).

my tests at valley benchmark gave me a score of 1614 on extreme HD preset and the card temperature there was at 67-70*C

Are you able to run / benchmark the card again, and monitor the GPU with...say MSI Afterburner, Sapphire TriXX, or GPU-Z ....and upload the results?

And are you running Unigine Valley in Full Screen, or Windowed Mode / Borderless?
