Hi guys, it's me (again), and this is something weird.

I usually set my PC to sleep nonetheless, and today when trying to wake it up, it shows up to the lock screen and while I'm trying to type the password it shuts off (for the first time.)

When I'm trying to start it up again, it just have this "00" QCode on the Motherboard, it usually keeps on changing whatever happens. Checking on the Manual Book, 00 means not used. What the?

The specs:

Spoiler

7700K

4x 16GB of Avexir Core

3x 4TB WD RED

2x Zotac GTX1070

Some watercooling stuff

Some LED stuff

Some fans

HX950i

So far what I've tried is:

- My first guess is the BIOS, punched that Clear CMOS button on the back and bam still 00

- Luckily I have the USB BIOS which contains the BIOS file ready to be "Flashback" using the buttons on the back.. Boom. The LED on the button do not even light. I've done this once and when I pressed the button, it should be blinking blue (Processing BIOS or something) This doesn't work.

- Luckily I have a HX750i laying around, tried to replace them still no luck. Run the HX950i Fan Test, it works. Run the HX950i on another System, it works. (Ofc, I just bought it a few days ago)

- Swapped out the memory for another batch of Avexir Core (Idk, I love these RAMs and I have lots of them around) nothing.

- Removed my SLI setup of 1070 and running 1 monitor through the onboard HDMI, no luck.

- Removed everything, leaving only the bare motherboard, processor, RAM and PSU. No luck.

- Read some article online it might be my CPU get toasted. Like, what? It usually runs at 30-40 with my setup. Just in case it really is, I go through all the hassle and (finally) be able to remove the waterblock. Taken out the 7700K and replaced it with a (working!) 6700K but still no luck. I don't have any other 270 chipset to try the 7700K.

Any help guys?

I know I could just throw this back to ASUS and ask for an RMA but, my country is somewhat kind of late, they even only have 30 of this motherboard here and I think in order to get this replaced will take somewhat forever.

I sure hope that it's not the case, but on Asus motherboards, "00" usually means a dead or malfunctioning CPU.

Pull the processor and reseat it.  Make sure that when you are installing the waterblock that you don't over tighten it causing excessive clamping force.

Bad thing is, my 6700K works just fine on my Z170 system. I don't have any other system to test the 7700K. Will keep things updated.

It's possible that the board malfunctioned and took the CPU out with it, but you need to test the 7700k to make sure.

Why don't your try the 7700k on your z170 board?  As long as you have an updated BIOS on the z170 board, the 7700k will work on it.

I see you edited the post.

As I've wrote in the first post, I've even replaced the 7700K with the 6700K (which is on another rig and it works perfectly fine) and as of now, I only put some TIMs and screwed the waterblock with my bare hands (I have a bad history with overtightened waterblocks in the past, so trust me).

I also replaced the whole watercooling setup as it was sitting with PETG tubing and would be a pain in the ass to remove the whole stuff when it's still like this.

Quick update: I haven't bothered to move the 6700K back to the Z170, but I put the 7700K in the Z170 and it doesn't POST. I never bothered to tinker or update the BIOS if it's not something important.

I moved the 6700K back, it do POST. Downloaded and updated the BIOS. Put the 7700K back in and it do POST in the Z170 system.

Now I'm starting to suspect the motherboard.

Yep.  Sounds like the Maximus IX Code died on you even though it's reporting a CPU failure.

Where did you buy it from?

I get it directly from ASUS Indonesia (this is the first 30 Z270 motherboard from ASUS that gets here, it was meant to be reviewed and after that I get to keep it).

Just now I asked them about a replacement and they said it will take somewhere from a month to two or three.

Are there anything that I could do without getting it replaced?

Not really.
