Hey, So if I was to buy a new motherboard will it need to be the same chipset as the old one because someone said my CPU only fits one chipset, My CPU is a i5 quad core 3.ghz with a 1155 socket. Now obviously I need the same socket on a new motherboard but does the chipset have to be the same as my old chipset (h61)

Is this a unlocked processor? so like a 2500k, 3570k? Or?

if u can go z77 for sure

I'd go z68 if you have a sandy-bridge processor and z77 if ivy-bridge. But if the budget is there maybe z77 all the way...  It does depend on your processor and your budget so a little more info would be nice =)

If it is an OEM copy you would need a new copy as the copy is tied to your motherboard but some people reported that it works. If yours is not an OEM copy, you would have to activate windows through Phone activation or uninstall the key and activate it on the new computer:
