I'm not sure there's even much AI involved in the YouTube suggestions.  I think it's just based off videos/channels with similar genres, and what got views from people who watched stuff you also watched.

So...a bunch of people suddenly went from "Is it better to buy a new or used graphics card?" to "LET'S SEE WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE IN A CAR!!!"???

I mean...I know the one guy watched it because the girl was cute (can't blame him for that), but c'mon! :D

I don't pretend to completely understand the mechanisms behind their suggestions or to have an answer to why this was recommended for you.  All I'm saying is calling it an "AI" is probably giving it too much credit :P
