[Solved] No LAN adapter found (intel)

Zandvliet

Hi,

I've just installed windows 10 on a new MB and CPU (Asus strix Z270G and i7 7700k) and I can't install the LAN drivers from the asus dvd. There is no Intel (R) device installed under network adapters. I tried to reinstall windows 10 again, install driver via asus website, install via intel website. Nothing works. The wifi does work.

Any more tips?

Cheers.

Even ethernet doesn't work?

You say you're installing the LAN drivers, but have you installed the wireless drivers, if it's just wireless not working?

Ethernet is the one that does not work. Wifi does work. I cannot even install the drivers. If I install the LAN driver from the ASUS support cd it says it finished installing and asking for reboot but according to the support cd it's not installed.

type

msconfig in run box

far right? tab should find devicemanager

run that look for yellow triangle with ! symbol

should be your device

click properties on the device

install

from source select the disc drive driverdisc in

if that fails and auto fails

click source select from the intel catagory find something close

Try installing the Intel I219V drivers from Intel's site rather than Asus.

Tried that, says: Cannot install drivers. No intel(R) adapters are present in this computer.

Tried that as well. I get 'Cannot install drivers. No intel(R) adapters are present in this computer.'

Download the KB3140743 hotfix from the microsoft website (or even the KB3140745 hotfix) and try the installation again as that might fix it.

Oh problem is solved, I guess I just had to update windows 10, suddenly the LAN device showed up in device manager. Thanks though

It might be that one of the updates was the fix required for windows 10 to actually detect the LAN controller (or whatever) and install the necessary drivers.

I would suggest installing the actual drivers instead of relying on what was provided by windows or windows update as there might be stuff that wasn't included with that driver.

Yeah I think that was it. I also installed the driver from asus so everything works now.
