i7 4790k help

hi all im new here and i need know what is the max voltage cache for my i7 4790k cpu? because i have this at 4.6ghz OC with 45x cache ratio multiplier at 1.29v and i found stability but i have read that cache voltage should not go beyond that 1.15v (strange, but by default this is at 1.185v 40x cache ratio) and i have mine at 1.29v. that for im worried. my motherboard is an z97a.

You are changing Vcore that is completely different. Safe range is below 1.35 for haswell past that you slowly start wearing out the cpu faster

yes i know about vcore, but my questions is about cache voltage or also calles Vring

Was the cache ratio unstable at any lower voltages than 1.29 or was that not tested? Usually you won't notice any improvements anyway from cache overclocking but yes you don't really want to approach 1.3v (on cache) for extended periods of time (ideally not passing 1.2v if not doing anything hardcore). I was confused because you basically said the Vcore is set to the same voltage as the Cache which there is really no need for that, cache should be stable at much lower voltages.

more stable i test is 1.260 but it seem to high still, i remember that by default motherboard show me 1.185v cache voltage 40x cache ratio multiplier.

I would just set it at 1.2 and see how high much higher  you can get it over stock.

im running mine at 1.3V 4.8ghz. 

24/7.

should be able to go up to 1.35V

Mine stays at 4700 when ever in use. 1.26 normally.

My cache voltage is set to 1.192v, my cache ratio is set to x43

 

My understanding of the Cache Ratio settings on haswell needs to be within 3 of the CPU Multiplier (mine 43 and 46) to maintain stability.

 

When i first got my chip i had all kinds of problems with stability because i hadn't got enough voltage going to the cache and the ratio was set too low.

der8auer wrote a devils canyon overclocking guide (here) and according to that, 1.15v is safe for 24/7 use and 1.25v is safe for "testing".  The table with the voltages is close to the bottom of the page.  The whole thing is worth reading if you've got the time though

edit: i've been using 1.25 for a while now, but i like to live dangerously

ok, i have 1.016v in idle, but at full load with prime95 it raise at 1.224v, maybe too high still....

i have another doubt, among several:
why the recommended cache voltage for 24/7 is 1.15v ask this cause my cache stock is 1.18v, that is to say, a stock starts from 1.185v without OC

thanks all, finally i have found 2 stable OC settings
1- 4.7ghz 1.272vcore 40x cache
2- 4.8ghz 1.312vcore 40xcache
maybe the second is too much and the cpu will degrade faster...i dont know if i use it.
Anyway I use IXTU to change profiles
