by the end of this year or the beginning of next year I am going to upgrade my gpu I have 4 gpu's in mind the most expensive being the 780 ti which I would have to stretch the budget a little from my estimation but its cheaper than I expected so its an option anyway here are the cards I am looking at the AMD ones won't be listed as I am waiting for the aftermarket coolers but here are the cards I am looking at

AMD R9 290x (MSI Twin Frozr when released)

AMD R9 290 (MSI Twin Frozr or whatever cooler)

GTX 780:http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx780series/03g-p4-2784-kr.html

GTX 780 ti:http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx780tiseries/gv-n78td5-3gd-b.html

so should I bite the bullet on one of these or wait till the next Nvidia upgrade cycle the 800 series to upgrade?

It depends if you want to wait for the 800 series?

I would go with the AMD R9 290x That thing would we simply amazing with an aftermarket cooler...

Since you would be stretching your budget go AMD

Any card you pick here would be a good upgrade from the stuff you currently use.

not really stretching if I sell the old gpu and some other things iPad etc which I was going to do I was going to go AMD but the Nvidia features are swaying me again

Single player games I like to play in surround multiplayer games I go to 1080P

In that case from the ones you have selected I would get a 780ti but aftermarket variations if they have higher VRAM as 1080p gaming already is sneaking up to the 3gb VRAM usage. With new consoles on the horizon PC gaming is going to get a boost in visual fidelity so I see requirements going higher. With that being said I can see waiting for the 800 series as being a better option as the 670 should fare well for another year without much sacrifice. *knock on wood*

I was thinking that I am used to buying mid high end gpu's this time I want to get a top of the line card to last at least 3-5 years

Like many said and i'd agree your card is pretty good for now when the 800 series comes out get that or wait for a few months and if 800 still isn't out 780 Ti might have dropped in price

My $.02 but that is what i'd do, and might do with my card
