hi.  sometimes my computer kinda has hiccups in where it will just take absolutely for ever to load something and then other times its really fast. any ideas?

Is it the SSD that has mood swings or the HDD? If it's the SSD, change it ASAP. if HDD, do a fregmentation on it. If nothing changes, run SMART on it. If smart shows bad sectors, change the disc.

 

Most importantly, do something about it. If my computer acts just a bit out of his usual self, I check everything. And I mean it. 

 

Take into account your disc age and how much you use it, do you turn your computer on and off often, that kind of stuff.

If you're running Windows 8 and above, open task manager and go to the performance. Monitor which component is being utilized as those hiccups occur. From personal experience, it's most likely the HDD just being slow as old balls. If it's not the disk, the problem is somewhere else like an infection.

sometimes its just windows. I've seen my windows 10 refuse to open one folder on my drive, crash, restart and then be fine.

Is it literally BSOD kind of crashing or is just Windows Explorer not responding, then restarting the process not the entire system?

i use google chrome.  its on my ssd which is a 850 evo.  it just happenes every once in a while not all the time
