Hi,

I can't seem to update any drivers, every single driver I try to update using the search online automatically option fails to update be it my gpu or my ethernet port. I've tried using driver booster which downloads and installs all drivers for you but it says failed for each one its tried to install, I can't use geforce experience either as it needs to update and says failed to install (I've deleted the files the official site told me to). I've used the troubleshooter to try and fix it but it just says restart your computer which I have done multiple times. This is windows 10 I am using, I have not updated manually as I have 17 outdated drivers so it will take forever. I used to be able to update that way. Please help, thanks!

Windows updater also failed - https://gyazo.com/b0ab8c36ec4297299b02e585195e5d00

Don't think its needed but here is my rig:

Gtx 1070

i5 6500 - default cooler

16gb of ram

Did you try scanning your system for any malware or viruses? I've heard of people having trouble installing drivers for maybe one device but if every driver for every device/program won't install the first thing I'd try is a virus scan.

Nope, I don't actually have any antivirus software except windows defender which is quite frankly terrible so I have it disabled most of the time and enable it for an occasional scan, I'm sure I don't have any viruses or malware as I don't download anything unless its from steam or some files for work.

just update the gpu driver manually

then u can google ur motherboard model, go to the manufacturers page and download the  drivers for ur mobo

u dont really need to upgrade anything else as long as its working

I'm tempted to but I'd rather have everything up to date and be able to download drivers for everything using windows as its faster.

Fair enough. Still very interesting. Are you downloading these files and executing them manually or are you installing them strait from the web browser?

My work files through emails sent directly to me, I don't download other files from online usually and if so normal precautions are taken and the weekly scan or so should catch it if its malicious (not happened yet though), this is mostly because I do work on my laptop which has an active antivirus and this is my desktop mainly for gaming.

When I said how do you download files I was referring to the drivers specifically. I know you said you like to use auto-driver downloading tools but what about installing them manually? Have you tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling it with the updated version? (Excluding Windows Updates)

Ah right, I haven't tried to install manually as it would take forever since I have 17 outdated drivers, I'll try and update manually now. Will reply again when I've done so. And I have uninstalled geforce experience and tried reinstalling it but it doesn't work.

Hi,

So I've noticed recently I can no longer update windows or install driver updates be it manually or automatically. When using windows to automatically search for driver updates it starts to download it but then proceeds to say an error occurred during installation. I've tried downloading a 3rd party driver updater and it just says failed to update on each of the 19 outdated drivers. This is really annoying me as its been over a week now and I still can't find a fix, more annoyingly however now is that as I've found out today I've tried to open device manager and it says the administrator (which is me) has blocked access to this or something, the same goes for local security stuff and it seems many have this issue, but I cannot understand why it has happening. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
