£100-150 Budget to spend on headphones

tpoar

As you can see from the title i am looking to spend £100-150 on headphones (no mic)

i have only ever used headsets before but looking on this forum i can see just headphones is a much better experience. any suggestions would be great since i know very little about the headphone market

will be paired with a blue snowball mic i havnt bought it yet so if you have any suggestions on that aswell that would be great (i would like a mic to sit on my desk aswell not to be attached to my mic)

will be used for gaming mainly but also some music if that helps

it's more to help other people than to help me, but you're using onboard audio, right? No external amp or amp/dac combo? You will probably want something with lower impedance unless the UD3 can handle it.

for gaming I would go for something like hd 558s and consider the foam mod,  if your current source doesn't seem up to scratch buy a fiio e10 down the line

I looked at the graphs of the HD 558/598/600. They're all nearly identical , the 558/598 are nearly 100% the same. The only difference is with the HD 800 and it's not that dramatic.

That bring said, 558/ad700x is what I normally recommend for gaming. You'll need an open headphone.

So that you get a wider soundstage aka. better auditory positioning

I would also recommend DT 770s or 990s

If you can find a good deal on the 558's, then go for it, and if not, then the AD700X ^_^
