Experiences with fios in north eastern US?

Scruffy90

I want to know what everyone's experiences have been like with Verizon fios.

I have been avoiding doing business with them for close to a decade due to some royal fuck ups over the years (affected me personally), but now Charter bumped up my prices and now they are the same price as verizon for ~50mb down along with other issues in my neighborhood.

I have used FiOS (over comcast as the alt in my area) and over the last 15 years.  Verizon has consistently been miles ahead of the competition in literally every single possible imaginable way ever it would be possible to rank or rate a company or service.  Please note, as of the last 5 years I've had INTERNET ONLY from FiOS.  i always get my rated speed even during peak times and as a power user with over 30+ connected devices on one connection, its brilliant.

EDIT - I pay for 150up/150down and i get within 5 - 10 of that consistantly.  On occasion we will get upwards of 200/200 during certain times.

overall* they are wonderful where i am . they are leaps and bounds better then the other company near me ny ny cough optimum  . *only problem is when its time to leave to another internet provider the games begin . keep charging for service , damaged equipment/ or lost . if you have any discounts or money owned from over payments its goes into a deep black hole .

have you tried getting a quote from fios and then going to charter and seeing if they match it .

I was paying TWC $35/mo for 50 down and 5 up, which is the cheapest I could get in the city, and charter just bumped my bill to $60 for the same speed.

Charter has been unwilling to negotiate, especially since i've been a long time customer with TWC prior(no one cares about long time customers anymore). At this point, if service and customer service is consistent, i'll jump to fios.

No. no one in nyc does promos for internet only. It sucks. I have no need for tv and home phone.

it ended up being cheaper in the long term for me to get the triple package 90$ for just 100/100 internet or 160 for nearly ever tv channel 100/100with no cap on speed at night (so i can get over 200mbps) and phone .

I dont want to bother doing triple play either because the promo for triple play with verizon is $20+ more before equipment charges and tax. Last time I got a triple play package, no one ended up watching tv
