Seen videos of using the foam squares, blankets, just more thick posters, all types of options. Even see crazy options from people saying to put up more walls.... thats just... expensive and too much work. I'm looking for a cheap but also really effective method. I stream and record and live in a relatively small house with family, I was to be able to block out most if not all of my moms animals, and my family/neice from yelling when they do. My original plan was the foam squares, but to cover the whole room, it can get very pricey. What about moving blankets? I heard they are super thick and effective, and possibly getting white ones for reflecting light could also benefit for webcam visibility.

Here is an example of what my moms birds sound like and what I need to block out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYFMo5Ar1k0

and she has 3 of them so its pretty loud. I don't expect to NOT hear them completely, but enough to where at least my microphone doesn't pick it up on stream. (I use the snowball)

Edit : Does sound travel straight? Or up? Or down? If I install blankets and they are not tall enough to cover the whole wall I'll probably prioritize where the blankets go.

Sound waves. An arc of vibration traveling through the air. Only light travels straight. That's why microphones can be any shape and camera lenses are flat.

Maybe a foam board surrounding your setup? Also where there are solid walls within your "booth" enclosure you can just buy some sound absorbing foam squares for the parts that the foam boards dont really cover.

Yea but the foam costs too much, I need to cover almost my whole room, or at least the side where the noise comes from.
