Which ram slot do I use?

It will say in the manual, but most motherboards say use the channel  lane closest to your CPU socket.

Ok, so,

 

for my first build I got this mobo:

 

http://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/B250M Pro4/index.asp

 

and 1 stick of 8gb ram. Which ram slot should I stick it in? It doesn't say in the mobo manual.

 

All help appreciated!

You're severely hurting speed by not going Dual Channel, but the second from the right should be fine. Or the leftmost.

It doubles access bandwidth, which could really help depending on the games. Witcher 3 comes to mind.
