Main drive a CD-ROM

is is possible to run a computer off of a cd-rom? like have the main drive, be a cd-rom? like it's literally the boot drive?

sry don't ask guys this is what goes through my head randomly.

windows 98 boot disc. alot of old computers required a disc to boot

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3. Storage: 1x Samsung 840 Evo. RAID 0: WD Scorpio Blue 500GB, WD Caviar Blue 500GB. PSU: Corsair CX500M.
Network: some TP-Link card that doesnt support 5.0Ghz. Case: Casecom Neptune CP-626 (the cooler doesnt fit so the side panel stays off).
Mouse: Logitech G430. Headphones: Sennheiser RS195. Keyboard: Lenovo KU0225. OS: Windows 10 Pro

probably not. are there any existing 80gb drives?

you can run many linux distros on a dvd or flash drive. 

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a last gen console for use once a year. I should answer most of the time between 9 to 3 PST

yes but he is talking about running windows. linux on a usb is better than disc anyways.

You can, but not Windows. Ubuntu and other free OS's can run in a special Live CD mode so you can trial the OS before installing.
