Just out of curiosity, how would this GPU handle modern games at 1080p? Does anyone have experience?

Well, I'm just gonna say it. It probably won't play Crysis at Ultra at 1080p.

It will be good but not near the performance of its desktop counterpart if you compare specs they are extremely different

I purchased this laptop around August, performance has been great for anything I've played so far. Don't expect it to max out any top tier games, but as long as you have reasonable expectations you wont be let down.
Feel free to ask any specific questions!

Do you play modded skyrim? If so, how does that perform?

well for comparison, i have a 635 that can play basic 3d games like portal and fallout new Vegas perfectly. I use 1600x900 resolution but the graphics are good enough for a crappy laptop monitor. For a comparison, on my home desktop (680) i get around a thousand frames per second; with the same settings (default) the laptop gets more along the lines of a solid 60 fps.

Intel i7-3770k @ 4.5 GHz                               DCUII GTX 680                            16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM

Sabertooth Z77 ATX                                      WD Caviar Blue 500GB+ 1TB      Corsair Obsidian 750D

Corsair TX850M Watt PSU                            Bad Custom Water Cooling          Samsung 840 Pro SSD

The 7970M in my laptop can run games like BF4 at 1080p easily on ultra/custom settings. I haven't recorded actual average framerates, but it pretty much always sits at 60 FPS as limited by vsync.

From what I've read, the 770M is slightly slower than the 7970M, but you'll definitely be able to play new and demanding games at smooth framerates at 1080p.

To be honest, comparing desktop and laptop GPUs isn't a great idea. Like others have said, the 770M won't be anywhere near the performance of a desktop 770, but if you can't have a desktop, you can't have a desktop. The 770M will perform faster than the 760M and 765M, but it will be slower than a 780M. If you absolutely need a laptop, the 770M is a strong performer that will handle pretty much every game at 1080p, but not everything will be run at max settings.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems
