OG GTX Titan 4 Years Later? Still very capable.

GTX Titan 6GB Benchmark Playlist

My older brother gave me this gpu back in September 2016 since he had upgraded. I thought this was just a minor improvement over the GTX 770 2GB I had before but...

I was so wrong, all games are played at 1080p at various graphics presets. Games like Gears of War 4 really surprised me how well I can still play games over 60fps on the Ultra Preset.

I will be continuing to add more games and benchmarks whenever I can since I feel like I won't be upgrading GPUs for awhile or at the very least no need to spend money yet since I only have a 1080p 60Hz monitor. Last game I tested was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands Beta. Wanted to try out the For Honor Beta but as of this moment, the game will not launch on this specific card and its a known issue since the Closed Beta. Not looking good for a launch in that game.

Then again I never had a high end card before especially with 6GB VRAM and I am running a custom BIOS on my Titan. Modded Fallout 4 couple of months ago and the game looked beautiful.

Found on here http://www.overclock.net/t/1363440/official-nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-owners-club

The HWBot Engineering BIOS is the one I use. Considering switching to the skyn3t BIOSes but no time to flash the bios yet.

i dont have any of the games OP used, but could anyone verify if this comparison is at least within margin of error?

because if it is, a titan is still very capable indeed, just not really much more than that :/

It pretty much is, I throw anything at 1080p at reasonable settings and it works well like 5% ish around the 970 on stock though. OC the 970 and it beats well. However the 3.5 gb vram issue over my 6gb vram is a different story.

eh, the 3.5 hasnt really troubled me much, the only game i've actually seen slam against the 3.5 was minecraft of all things :D (i think someone did a derp there, minecraft appareantly tries to allocate 3.5GB vRAM, a friend of mine with a 1080 gets the exact same 3.5GB usage readout.)

Im still using my 660Ti SLI 5 years later.

As long as i stay at 1080 resolution i can hit benchmarks just a bit over a 970.

Though the 2gb memory limit is starting to bottleneck me here and there.

the inconvenient truth about why my GT640 is starting to pull ahead of my "theoretically faster" HD 5770 :P

seriously tho.. what imbecile thought of the idea of strapping 4GB vRAM to a card thats the size of said vRAM xD

Yes, Techspot is one of the few sites that still bench the Original Titan, and it the 970, and RX 470 are all very similar in games.

I have not played Minecraft in ages. Maybe its time to go back at least for the multiplayer minigames that is.

I think the last straw for me was The Division beta and Doom 2016 where I saw 2GB vram was starting to cause issues and not being able to have a steady framerate with frametimes going everywhere.
