My friend is having a ton of issues with his PC lately, and I've tried helping him but he hasn't been able to enable wifi for his laptop, I helped him get the drivers reinstalled and he's tried restarting his pc he doesn't want to factory reset his PC but I'm telling him he should. Here is a video of what is happening

Laptop specs:

CPU: Core i7 3630QM

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT630M

RAM: 16gb of unknown origin

Storage: 1tb HDD (probably going to upgrade to an SSD at some point)

Mouse: Corsair M65 Pro RGB

Go into CMD as Admin,  and type:

netsh winsock rest

Then restart, and see if that fixes your issues. It resets your adapter settings.

Is it an old laptop? Is it enabled in device manager and Windows recognises the adapter? Is there a hard switch to toggle wifi like some old laptops? Its possible the adapter is malfunctioning.

Agree, could be a hardware toggle, or even just not enabled with F keys. My bro had this probelm before and had no wifi for a few days... came to me to sort it out for him and he or his wife had accidentally switched the hardware wifi toggle off. They were a bit embarassed and forgot the laptop even had one, lol. My sister had the other problem where the wifi wasn't enabled with fucntion keys, again brought it to me (lucky I give free tech support to family huh?, lol), pressed that and wifi came on immediately. It makes better sense IMO to have wifi always on, but disables when ethernet plugged in as some laptops do, but instead of having a wifi switch, have a "airplane mode" like mobiles, where you can toggle off stuff you don't need, so it brings up a GUI window with wifi/bt etc toggles instead... think that would be easier for some people to understand.
