Cheapest 1060 and 1070 equipped laptops

no offence but you really don't understand much without your bias leaking out, (which MacBook pro do you have?) SSDHD are not great, 8gb of ssd for your os is not enough also constant slowness and really bad pricing. get me a laptop that has 6 hours of battery life not very heavy, "relatively light" yea a gt titan is very light compared to my car. a lot of people use MacBooks as a pro laptop, lot of my coworker uses MacBook for AutoCAD, Revit to looking at a spreadsheet. yes you can use it depending on the job you have. please understand my point of view that no one wants to lug around a heavy laptop unless they have to. my friend had a Alienware 15 inch, he lasted for a week lugging around that garbage. unless you have a video editing or a job that requires lots of power no one wants to carry around an big gaming laptop which has 6 hours of battery life when turned off.

I have the retina one 15in. And yes that is my 240w AW charge next to it. And you STILL dont get what I'm saying. The guy in the video literally doesn't know what a SSHD is. And XPS15, 7559, Y700, GL502 (970m) all were thin and had more than 7 hours of battery life. Also almost everyone in the business/financial industry uses Thinkpads cause Macs run excel and their plugins like shit. Like absolute garbage. If you want thin and light, get an XPS15 or a X260 or something. A X260 literally had 12 hours of battery life. And we are very far off topic from where I initially started. My point was the guy in the video doesn't know what he's talking about. I have ZERO issues with a Macbook Pro. People use it for their machines. I never said it wasn't a widely used machine. I'm saying for my uses. What I AM SAYING is that the guy in the video doesn't know what it's like to use a Chromebook cause HE USES a Macbook Pro.

well in the aerospace industries a lot of us engineers uses MacBooks with windows and a desktop for our job, xps 15 one of the best computer that exists right now especially for my setup a decently powerful laptop with good battery life and a desktop that can handle everything i throw at it. i was talking about a computer that under 1k and has good build, portability and powerful in one package. sadly apple lost most of us with the switch to the "touch bar MacBook pro. let's end the argument by saying the guy has a point if OP doesn't need a powerful laptop he should get a combo.

Oh ofc. I never disputed this point. Laptops are terrible value in the long term.

Y700 was that laptop in the last gen. It was built really well, portable and powerful. Sadly, Lenovo still needs to up their QC game. Otherwise it was the thing. I'm hoping the Y520 is just as good this time around.

yes, that's the best MacBook with 2 tb of ssd storage 16 gb of ram connected to an external display. i personally use a 2013 model because of a gift i upgraded my storage to 1tb now, sadly its my last MacBook like most users who use it for work.

Lenovo is a company that lost its reputation, i would not suggest a laptop from them.

ehhh, dell had some shady shit like that too. just wasn't publicized as hard. It's also just software, a fresh install fixes all of that. I"m just saying the hardware in the Y700 is the shit for the last gen.

This is already hilariously off the original topic to the point that I shouldn't be answering you but whatevs. :P

If you've nothing else to add, then leave. You've made your point that you hate laptops and think they're all garbage. The guy in that video states that X laptop has an 8GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. He does NOT know what a SSHD is. Yes it's not that good, but at least WE know that the 8GB portion is a cache segment granting better performance the more something is done in a single session. This guy thinks it's just an 8GB SSD with no link to the HDD portion. He LITERALLY just called himself out as being computer illiterate. That alone warrants most should ignore him.

i answered your question, i really don't care what you think. as Pendragon suggest a Lenovo Y700 or dell xps 15 would be the best option.

Well, that was quite a show.

I appreciate all of the genuine suggestions that were given, and I thank you all for the time you spent here. I think I'll just save up for the 15" ROG STRIX with the 1060. It has everything I need in a more-portable-than-a-desktop package, and plus, $1299 isn't ridiculously out of reach for me. Battery life was never a concern, and a 1080p display is good enough for my needs (thunderbolt is a definite plus).
