If you must use Windows (for software compatibility or just gaming), Windows 10 is the way to go for now, DX12 can't be found elsewhere and personally i'd say that outside the insiders version, the system is very stable, not mentioning security.

I don't know about you, but i just can't stand the glass inspired Aero effects of W7 anymore, i know it can be modified by deviantart themes, but its just too much effort and most of those are very buggy, but the original just feels very dated nowadays.

In your position, i would switch it.

you can disable it. i always have

I know you can, but then it feels clunky, like you'd be using XP, and i'm frankly spoiled by modern smooth window animations as of now...

While many people don't like Windows 10 looks, I FInd that Windows 10 (and 8 for that matter) are far better Operating Systems from a system stability and resource utilisation standpoint.

that alone is worth upgrading IMHO. Plus a lot of newer technology went in., like DX12.

Honestly though, Windows 8.x was the fastest and most Stable windows version I have ever used. Windows 10 is just slightly behind.

If you don't know why you'd install Windows 10, then there's no point. It's basically Windows 7 with a lot of crap layered on top. Windows is not faster, more stable, more secure, more compatible, or leaner in system resources-usage than Windows 7, so all you'd be doing in going to Windows 10 is playing into a psychological trick.

I'd say that Windows 7 is more stable, secure, and uses less system resources than Windows 10.

I've put a lot of views on the differences between Windows 7 and 10 in this blog post:

I'm running both on my machine, and I think that if it weren't for the different-looking UI, or constant annoying messages in Windows 10, or its in-OS ads, etc, most people would never be able to tell whether the OS they use is Windows 7 or 10.
