Sadly my i5 2400 died...and I was originally planning to only upgrade it when AMD zen is out ....

But now it's died much earlier than I expected so I am thinking of the Pentium G4560 as its cp value is just amazing and it'll should do just fine with some gta and ava, right?(hoping to save some money for ssd and 1151 would be upgradable in the future?)

Or should I wait for the lower line of Zen?(not sure of the releasing date and so on)

So any suggestions?my budget for CPU is around 150USD but if I can cut it down for a ssd would be nice~

You can try to score another i5 2400 or 2500 as long as your motherboard still works, otherwise you will have to get a new motherboard, CPU and memory, when you want to upgrade to Ryzen anyways (which will probably release early March, if you want to believe the rumors).

Well AMD Ryzen (not Zen btw) ;) is coming in Q1, but we don't really have a set date. Also, I'm not sure if that "date" is for the lower line as well, but I'm guessing they'll release it all at once, right? That said, I am myself waiting to do my build because of Ryzen, and I think it'll be worth the wait, so you can spend your saved money elsewhere.

It does depend on how much you use your PC though. If it's a crucial part of your everyday, go for the Pentium. Prices wont change THAT much I think.

Best regards, Mikkel

Altough AMD has a bad history with release dates, so that could be postponed.

I thought it from the perspective that he wanted to save some money because of Ryzen release. Could be a point to maybe look at the new Ryzen models as well @BaronKiller

It's just the processor that's dead right? You can get a used 2400 off of ebay for $67 to hold you over. It's much cheaper than switching to a whole new platform.
