I currently own a computer with these specs and am currently being bottlenecked by my CPU. However, my motherboard only has an FM2+. I am looking to buy a new motherboard which would allow me to use all my old hardware except for the CPU and motherboard, I am likely to buy a new intel i5 or i7. Unfortunately, I do not know a lot about motherboards What motherboard would people recommend?

Specs:

  • CPU - AMD A8 6600k
  • GPU - AMD R9 280
  • RAM - 8GB DDR3 (1 stick)
  • PSU - 600W
  • OS - Windows 7
  • Storage - Samsung 850 evo250GB SSD, 1TB Hardrive
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte F2AR78M-D3H
  • Monitor - AOC (VGA and DVI input)

Preferences:

No overclocking
Onboard wifi is a bonus but not necessary

No need for RGB pins or pump headers

I'm not too sure what else I need (this is a gaming setup if that helps) but fan control, heat sensor, room for more ram, usb ports around 8 at least 2x 3.0 ports and 2 at the front, ethernet port,  headphone and mic 3.5mm, min of 3 sata inputs

well any motherboard with a 80 or 90 series chipset should do you good if you dont want to overclock. what you want to get is a 4th get Intel processor for that motherboard too if you want to keep the RAM

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
